My Times with the Sisters is a true story written well and with some pathos. How many boys go to the front door, open it, see a woman there, run back inside to tell his sisters, that a lady is at the door, only to find out it is his own mother, who has been long gone? A worthwhile read.

A true story of a young boy growing up in a small village in upstate New York. It covers the years 1926-1932 during which he attended a small Parochial School. The Depression is a factor in the story as is the Constitutional experiment known as Prohibition. The young adults have just emerged from WW I. They married, played hard and had children. With social tensions increasing, the Sisters (of St. Joseph in this story) succeeded by sticking to basics in education, a powerful sense of patriotism, and a loving concern for the whole child. There is humor in this book, humor that provided an antidote for despair.
