(More customer reviews)Before purchasing this Item I knew what to expect having read other poems of Lord Rochester John Wilmot. This is the court of Charles the II - the restoration period. Wilmot was totally debouched but strangely enough though this language rather stronger than Cleland's famous novel it gives food for thought. Like in many of his other poems there is criticism of the way the high society lived and criticism of corruption and venality. Though I must admit I do not find it one of his better effort, the humor is missing that is often the saving grace in what is undeniable pornography.
