(More customer reviews)This is a novel inspired by the original- but a story all its own and written from Rochesters perspective. Any reader of Jane Eyre knows Rochester was portrayed as a man with a debauched past and his passionate nature is evident throughout. This re-telling takes the blueprint of Rochester from the original and fills the man in, body and soul. Rochester is both naughty and very sexual- those seeds too were in the original and they are represented here in spades. The Jane we encounter in this retelling is his true equal and this is largest departure from the original characterization. This is the JE I have read between the lines since I was a teenager- I loved reading a version of the story from Rochesters point of view.
