(More customer reviews)Darryl Robidoux has written the story of the first 40 years of his life - a heartwarming account of one human being who isn't afraid to share his highs, his lows and his innermost thoughts. I found this book to be fascinating, because I, too, lived through the times of unlimited expense accounts, private planes, and living on the edge. While some readers may wonder about Darryl's encounters with the opposite sex, believe me - that's the way it was during the 60s and 70s. His account of corporations, relationships, and the changing world brought back many memories of my own life. This book is easy to read and very well written. From his youth on a farm, to the heights of corporate America, Darryl accepted no boundaries to realize his dreams. As host of [...], I've had the pleasure of speaking with Darryl about his book, and he is truly a gentleman with a story to tell.

"I was self-destructing in my career and attacking people I felt had minor weaknesses or were incompetent. As if that wasn't enough, I was mentally impaired and making bad decisions..." Are these the words of an alcoholic? A drug addict? Someone headed for bankruptcy? Quite the opposite! They were written by Darryl E. Robidoux, a successful businessman who amassed enough wealth to retire from a prestigious position with Xerox at only 40 years old. Proving that even the richest of men have demons in their closets, Robidoux shares his imperfections, transgressions and weaknesses right alongside his achievements and triumphs in his book, Home After Dark: One Man's Memoir, to help the average Joe or Jane - which, let's face it, is most of us - realize ANYONE can make it big as long as they relentlessly pursue their goals. However, Robidoux, who describes his younger incarnation as "self-possessed to a fault, brash and an inflexible contrarian, frequently thrusting his opinions on others" also aims for readers to learn from his mistakes and catch themselves before they sink as low as he did to get what they want. From his birth behind a wood-burning stove in a home with no kitchen to his rapid ascent to the apex of the corporate ladder, Robidoux's incredible journey inspires anyone who yearns to rise above their circumstances to achieve success on a level few could imagine.
