(More customer reviews)Dr Bertha VanHoosen is a distant relative and was still living in the 1940s. I don't recall ever meeting her but she must have been something. For a woman to go to medical school in the time period when she went was quite unorthodox but she did it. And she succeeded despite the odds. I would recommend this book, not because she is an ancestor of mine, but because it shows what women had to do to become independent.
